Ironic

Definition

(formal/literary) Characterized by or constituting irony; expressing a meaning that is opposite of, or contrary to, what the words literally say. Often used to describe a situation in which there is an incongruity or discrepancy between what is expected and what actually happens. Typically collocates with 'twist', 'turn', 'situation', 'circumstance'.
