Forfeit

Definition

(formal) To give up or lose something, especially a right or a chance, as a penalty for doing something wrong or failing to do something required; to surrender or relinquish something, often unwillingly. Typically collocates with 'the right to', 'the opportunity to', 'a claim to'.
